Carl Cafagna's October 2012 Gigs

Hey, folks, it's a pretty good October for me; I hope to see lots of you out at these gigs!  Music makes the fall colors even brighter!

1. Friday, October 5, 6:00 - 12:30 p.m.: I'll be playing Drums for a total of 6 hours with 2 different groups at Cliff Bells, 2030 Park Ave., Detroit.  From 6:00-8:30 p.m., I'll be providing background dinner music, with the 'Scott Gwinnell Trio' (with Scott on piano and Dan Pliskow on bass).  Then, from 9:30-12:30 p.m., I'll be playing skins as part of a "Tribute to Pepper Adams", one of Detroit's greatest musicians ever! (greatest baritone saxman of all time!), which will also feature Steve Wood, tenor sax, Ingrid Racine, trumpet, Scott Gwinnell, piano, Jordan Schug, bass, and Mark Berger, playing the role of Pepper on baritone.  No cover for the Dinner Set, and $10. for the "Pepper Tribute" set.  Come enjoy great jazz and great food and drinks, in one of Detroit's best atmospheres!  Please call (313) 961-2543 for more info.

2. Saturday, October 6, 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.: I'll be singing and playing horns with my band, 'Carl Cafagna & the Creole Kitchen' at Shield's Pizza, 25101 Telegraph Rd., Southfield MI.  We play the glorious music of New Orleans with 6 pieces (trumpet, trombone, clarinet/sax, banjo/guitar, bass and drums), with instrumental and vocal classics that will delight you!  There is a nominal collection taken at the door, which benefits the "Greater Detroit Jazz Society," a fantastic organization that promotes jazz, and provides gigs!  Shield's Pizza is terrific, and so is our music!  Please call (248) 356-2720 for more info.

3. Saturday, October 6, 9:00 p.m. - 12 midnight: I'll be playing drums and singing with my group, 'Carl Cafagna & Friends Organ Trio' at UDetroit Cafe, 1427 Randolph St., Detroit.  This is an exciting new performance venue in Detroit's Harmonie Park (near Comerica Park), which broadcasts live music over the internet.  Our group features Me along with Duncan McMillan, hammond organ and Ralph Tope, guitar.  We will also be featuring select guest musicians throughout the evening.  Just a $5. cover charge for great music, good food and drinks in a hip casual atmosphere.  Come join the fun, or watch us live at www.udetroit.com  Please call (313) 962-0660 for more info.

Sunday, October 7, 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.; I'll be singing and playing horns with the 'Bayou River Band' aboard the Michigan Princess Riverboat, which sails the Grand River, Lansing MI.  The boat docks at Grand River Park, at the public boat launch, off Old Lansing Rd., across from the Dispatch Bar.  Just $40. 9.
