1. FRIDAY, JULY 5, 7:00 p.m.: I'll be singing and playing horns with 'METRO JAZZ VOICES' outside the LIVINGSTON COUNTY COURTHOUSE, 200 E. Grand River Ave., HOWELL MI. A special concert celebrating Americana, with a special tribute to World War 2. FREE and All-Ages. Bring a lawnchair.
2. SATURDAY, JULY 6, 7:00 p.m.: I'll be playing saxophones with 'LOOKIN' BACK', a Bob Seger Tribute Band, at the CADILLAC ROTARY PAVILION, corner of Mitchell St. & Cass St., CADILLAC MI. FREE and All-Ages, and a Fireworks show follows our show.
3. WEDNESDAY, JULY 10, 6:30 p.m.: I'll be playing saxophones & clarinet with the JOHNNY TRUDELL QUINTET at the MT. CLEMENS REC' BOWL, 40 Crocker Blvd., MOUNT CLEMENS MI. Dancing welcome, 21+ Only. Cover charge benefits the Greater Detroit Jazz Society, which presents the concerts.

5. THURSDAY, JULY 11, 7:00 p.m.: second half of a double-header on my Birthday. I'll be playing horns with vocalist RYAN DEHUES at the Mitchell Ampitheater, OWOSSO MI. Bandshell is on the grounds of Owosso Middle School, 219 N. Water St. FREE and All-Ages. Bring a lawnchair.
6. FRIDAY, JULY 12, 6:30 p.m.: I'll be playing Drums and Singing with the 'CARL CAFAGNA & FRIENDS' ORGAN TRIO outside the BRYANT LIBRARY, 22100 Michigan Ave., DEARBORN MI. Also featuring Duncan McMillan, B3 Organ and Colton Weatherston, guitar and vocals. FREE and All-Ages.
7. WEDNESDAY, JULY 17, 6:30 p.m.: I'll make a return to the Mt. Clemens Rec' Bowl with 'METRO JAZZ VOICES'. Again, Dancers welcome, and again 21+ only, and the cover benefitting the Greater Detroit Jazz Society.
8. THURSDAY, JULY 18, 5:00 p.m.: I'll be playing horns with vocalist MERI SLAVEN at 'ALLEY REGALLY', part of Founders Fest., FARMINGTON MI. Under a tent off Grand River Ave., near the corner with Farmington Rd. 21+ only; good food and drinks.

Carl Cafagna's May 2013 Gigs

Here's the lowdown on where I'll be this month; hope to see you at one or more!
1. Friday/Saturday, May 3/4: I'll be playing horns and singing at the GRAND HOTEL, Mackinac Island, for their annual 'Titanic Weekend,' which includes a full re-enactment of the last night on the Titanic. Did it last year, and it's a hoot, for any of you who are looking for something to do!
2. Sunday, May 5: I'll be back in the Metro area, just in time to perform with the 'Carl Cafagna & Friends Jazz Trio' from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m., at the Mount Clemens Rec Bowl, 40 Crocker Blvd., Mt. Clemens MI. This monthly series of concerts is organized by the Greater Detroit Jazz Society, a wonderful local group. My Trio on the 5th will feature GARY ALLEN on guitar, SHANNON WADE on bass, and ME on saxes, clarinet, voice and snare drum with brushes (seriously!); hope to see you there! We play ALL kinds of music, Bach, Handel, Debussy, Jazz, Ragtime, Folk songs, Pop, even TV Theme-songs (no kidding!), all in the same concert! This is the only Metro area ensemble which offers this type of musical variety. Features JAMES HUGHES, alto sax, LEN TEMELINI, tenor, SHANNON FORD, baritone and ME, soprano sax. Besides Steve and I, the 'TENORS' feature an A-list group of supporting musicians, including PAUL KELLER, SCOTT GWINNELL, SEAN DOBBINS and others. The Wednesday and Thursdays offer sets at 6:30 and 8:30 p.m.; Friday and Saturday offer the same, plus a 3rd set at 10:00 p.m. Reservations are a must, and are available by calling (313) 884-5180, or www.dirtydogjazz.com The food and ambiance of the Dirty Dog, in addition to our music, are East Coast quality.

February is a busy month for performances, which is GREAT, because the cold months can be brutal. There are 4 private events I'm doing this month too, but I'm not going to put those in here, just the public ones. Here goes:
1. Tuesday, Feb. 5, 11:00 a.m. CST (Central Time); I will sing and play with 'Metro Jazz Voices' at the Freedom Hall Nathan Manilow Theater, 410 Lakewood Blvd., Park Forest IL; Tickets are $10. It's a special Valentine's Day-themed show, and our first in the Land of Lincoln!

MI; I am honored to serve as Guest Conductor for the MI District 16 High School All-Star Jazz Band, which includes students from 7 different high schools in Macomb County; very talented, serious kids, and a BIG pleasure to work with them, and hopefully impart a little 'wisdom from music school AND from the road' to them. Come support some great young musicians, and it's FREE!
4. Wednesday, Feb. 13, 6:00 p.m., at O'Conners Public House, 324 S. Main St., Rochester MI, for a 'Valentines/Classic Cocktail Happy Hour.' I'll be singing and playing horns with the 'Carl Cafagna & Friends Jazz Trio', also featuring Shannon Wade on bass and Sven Anderson on keys. We feature standards from the 'Swing Era' and the 'Great American Songbook,' both vocal and instrumental. NO cover, and great drink specials, in a fun atmosphere, in the heart of downtown Rochester. Carl Cafagna's October 2012 Gigs
Hey, folks, it's a pretty good October for me; I hope to see lots of you out at these gigs! Music makes the fall colors even brighter!
1. Friday, October 5, 6:00 - 12:30 p.m.: I'll be playing Drums for a total of 6 hours with 2 different groups at Cliff Bells, 2030 Park Ave., Detroit. From 6:00-8:30 p.m., I'll be providing background dinner music, with the 'Scott Gwinnell Trio' (with Scott on piano and Dan Pliskow on bass). Then, from 9:30-12:30 p.m., I'll be playing skins as part of a "Tribute to Pepper Adams", one of Detroit's greatest musicians ever! (greatest baritone saxman of all time!), which will also feature Steve Wood, tenor sax, Ingrid Racine, trumpet, Scott Gwinnell, piano, Jordan Schug, bass, and Mark Berger, playing the role of Pepper on baritone.
